MY STORY
I was born with a knowing I would become a doctor. My first introduction to natural medicine was through a family heirloom of herbal remedies by Saint Hildegard of Bingen, botanical illustrations intact with the Swiss–German script of my ancestry. Later, mystical wilderness experiences, along with the arrival of a serious illness following time spent abroad in Spain and Patagonia, led me to both receive and then pursue a medicine rooted in nature–classical East Asian Medicine.
MEET ALISON SCHNEIDER
Hello, I’m Alison! I am a mother, writer, acupuncturist and healer, in love with the world. My clinical practice is dedicated to women’s health, mental health, and pediatrics. For nearly a decade, I have been studying and integrating the tools of classical East Asian medicine and modern neuroscience to help whole families heal and thrive.
Informed by a multidisciplinary background in the arts, meditation, and movement therapies, I provide a unique lens in which to see, touch, and unravel old wounds. My holistic approach explores the intersection of functional medicine and thoughtful somatic practices to strengthen proper organ relationships, and illuminate the core beliefs imprinting your biology.
Through deep listening, you will learn how to care for your inner landscape, and to tend to the ecosystem of your nervous system, immune system, and psyche. This caretaking is health, which equates to wholeness. This is called nourishing life.
HOW IT ENDS
My own life is enriched by the poetry of the everyday. I find joy in the forests, oceans, mountains, and flowers that surround us in Portland, OR, where I reside with my young daughter and her dad. Aurelia is beginning to sing, and we are remembering new songs.
